First Day City: The First Day of Issue Ceremony took place at El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California.
Go Beyond Set: Four different stamp designs were issued to coincide with the movie Lightyear’s release, each showcasing Buzz Lightyear in a different pose. All artwork is provided by Pixar Animation Studios. The selvage of the pane of 20 includes a full-body view of Buzz in his iconic green and silver space suit.
History the Stamp Represents: Buzz Lightyear debuted in the 1995 film Toy Story, alongside Sheriff Woody. Voiced by Tim Allen, Buzz and Woody’s friendship initially faced challenges as Buzz believed he was a real “space ranger.” Their journey, marked by obstacles and self-discovery, teaches children about overcoming jealousy and forming unexpected friendships.
Transition: From enemies to friends, Buzz and Woody’s story highlights the importance of avoiding harsh judgments and embracing the potential for new and unexpected connections.
